Gladys Daniels was born and reared on the Westside of Chicago, Illinois and remains a resident of the Westside. She attended Crane High School, Malcolm X Junior College, Chicago Baptist Institute, and Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois.
Gladys is deeply devoted to her family and church. She is the wife of Pastor Wilson Daniels, mother of one daughter, one son and grandmother of six. She also has a son and daughter-in-law who are like her own children. She has been a member of United Baptist Church since 1974 where her husband is the Pastor.
Gladys serves as Director of Women’s Ministry and has been a Sunday school teacher for more than 20 years. She has a love for people and a desire to see young people succeed. Gladys worked as Project Manager for the Clarence Jones Life Long Learning Institute’s Summer Camp for two years which serviced over 100 children. Under the Women’s Ministry, other ministries have evolved: MOPS(Moms of Preschoolers), Moms In Touch (Ministry to our children away at college, in the Armed Forces and jail), Married Women’s Ministry, Prison Ministry, Sewing Ministry, John Stroger Hospital(Ward31), Big Sister/Little Sister, Mother/Daughter Luncheon, Women’s Retreat, Women’s Conference, Women’s Month (April), Women’s Ministry Handbook, Women’s Ministry Prayer Booklet, United Starlight Quarterly Newsletter, Annual Clothing Give-Away to the community, Annual Coat Give-Away to our school age children, etc.
Gladys has a love for people and her favorite scripture is Matthew 25:35-36, “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited me in. I needed clothes and you clothed me. I was sick and you looked after me. I was in prison and you came to visit me.” Her prayer is that the work she has done will speak for her.
